Health Informatics not only provides patients simple tools to digitize, manage, monitor, and track all aspects of their own personal health; it also provides healthcare industry personnel and educators instant access to that same information. They can analyze results of all uploaded information and make wise recommendations (Hoyt & Yoshihashi, 2014, p. 6). These recommendations can then be easily transmitted digitally. This new way of doing things is significantly less expensive and much less time consuming than the status quo.

Apple offers iPhone users a free personal electronic health record (EHR) that can be set up directly in the Health App. The Health App tracks and stores activity, nutrition values with calorie intake, sleep, meditation, vitals, lab results, and data from wearable medical devices (2018).

On their website, Apple Corporation provides a growing list of health institutions, hospitals, and clinics that support EHR on iPhone such as the Cleveland Clinic and Cedars-Sinai to engage, guide, and monitor patients (2018).

Under Armour offers a digital health and fitness system to track and store nutrition, fitness, sleep, and other activities. Data automatically populates from apps and wearable devices, into other apps such as the Health App for iPhone users.
